We have a purchase agreement in place!! While we were hoping to snare the house for less, we ended up paying pretty much what we thought we'd end up paying. For us, the price is well worth it. Now we move on to the next steps; appraisal, formal loan application and approval, inspection, closing, moving. We have a ton of work ahead of us, and it's an incredibly exciting time!
Wow. We're sitting in somewhat stunned disbelief. Two months ago the concept of buying a house and moving out of the apartment we'd spent the past sixteen years in was nowhere on the radar. I like to pride myself on being a Planner, but this was something I had never planned. The opportunity presented itself and even we didn't take it too seriously at the start. At least, I sure didn't. Once the process began in earnest, however, it became a steamroller and it seemed I was caught up in it. Not to say it was out of my control--far from it, as it quickly became apparent this was something I had been looking for even while not being aware of the desire to get our own place.
So, now it's time. Time to prepare to move everything we have accumulated over the course of our lives. We'll find out quickly what we really need and what is really just crap we thought we needed.
