Finally the Sun
The sun finally made an appearance today! Yes!! Patty was out by the pool area tanning by 9 a.m. and I got out there an hour later for a great three-hour baking. By 1:00, the clouds were starting to roll in again so the timing on this was just right. Wendy's for lunch. Wendy's?? Hey, it's food and I was hungry. Pretty damn good Big Bacon Classic.
The usual afternoon snooze was followed by the usual drive into Kona. I'm 50/50 on staying in Keauhou again. While it's nice to be a good distance from Kona (which can be busy), it's a little inconvenient to be constantly driving there for dinners. On the other hand, the drive along Ali`i Drive, while slow, is nice and affords some cool ocean views. Think "Hawaiian Time" and you'll appreciate this more.

We'd wanted to dine at the Kona Inn but they weren't serving dinner until 5:30 and we got there an hour early. The alternative was to get their lunch pupus which were uninspiring from the menu we looked at. Instead, we walked over to the Kona Canoe Club, which is rather like a sports bar. I had a chili burger, Patty had her usual salad. The burger was disappointing, but their T-shirts are nice and at $14.95, I scored my second shirt on this island. They also had great looking orange colored caps but the cost, at $18.95, seemed a bit prohibitive. There is no culinary reason whatsoever to come here.
Back to the hotel, we neede to do another load of laundry. Since it's Monday night, Patty is soon focused on Dancing With The Stars (how she got me interested in that show, I have no idea, but every time I watch it I feel another few IQ points seeping out my ears  ). After the show, we headed to the Verandah Lounge for virgin Lava Flows. We listened to the band for awhile and soaked up this great atmosphere. Sitting near the railing, listening to the music, looking out at the tide pool, seeing and hearing the waves crash...it all adds up to another perfect ending to another perfect day.
