Minnesota Boys' High School Hockey
Traveling Trophy History

What exactly is the Traveling Trophy? It is a mythical trophy, starting with the 1997-98 season and Edina the proclaimed holder of the trophy (because they won the 1997 Class AA State Tournament) where every time a team beats the holder of the trophy, it transfers to them. This trophy has changed hands 184 time, with St. Thomas Academy currently in possession.

Only teams playing in the MSHSL qualify for this trophy; no school outside this State can qualify! You can only lose your trophy by playing a Minnesota team (Shattuck is likewise not qualified since they aren't a MSHSL team). The primary reason for this is that I only have game scores for teams playing in the MSHSL.

50 different teams have held this trophy at one time. 14 teams have "held serve" on the trophy for at least 20 games in their team history, led by Minnetonka (78 games), Edina (75), Holy Angels (58), Eden Prairie (48), Elk River (46), Hill-Murray and Duluth East (43), Moorhead (38), Lakeville North (37), Roseau (33), Grand Rapids (24), Roseville and Maple Grove (23) and St. Thomas Academy (20)
