Our Trip to Maui (2014)--Day 14
5/18/2014

Hokule`a left Honolulu yesterday, the start of what is to be a three-year circumnavigation of the earth. This morning they landed near the Lahaina Harbor. I was there just after 8 a.m. and snapped a few pics. They said it wasn't scheduled to come into the harbor until 11 a.m. or so, so I left--I simply didn't want to wait that long on what was fast becoming another hot, humid day. Where the hell are those trade winds???

Our day was one of much rest, followed by a lunch of leftover spaghettini and meatballs from last night, and then more rest. Dinner tonight was at Leilani's at Whaler's Village in Ka`anapali. Another restaurant owned by the TS Restaurant "chain", we wanted to see how this place compared to Kimo's.

In the atmosphere area, not quite up to Kimo's standards. In the food area, every bit as good and probably better. My filet mignon was as good as any I've ever had, on a par with the one I had at Ruth's Chris two years ago. It was placed on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and was cooked to perfection. Patty was equally enthusiastic about her baby back ribs. Service was impeccable and extremely friendly. And since we each had an entree, we were able to utilize our coupon for a free Hula Pie. Excellent!

More relaxation after we return to the hotel, watching TV until lights out at 11 p.m.
