Hearts in Hawai'i

Our Trip to Hawai'i (2010)--Day 6
4/23/2010

Polynesian Cultural Center

Today's activity was the one we'd been truly looking forward to, an entire day and evening spent at the Polynesian Cultural Center up in Laie. We had reserved the Ambassador Prime Rib dinner package. Along with coach transportation ($8 more expensive per person than bus transportation), the cost was $150 per person.

The cost was worth every penny. Everything we encountered and witnessed today was thoroughly enjoyed, starting with the narrated ride up to the center which took over an hour and ending with the Ha-Breath Of Life show that evening, it was a day filled with cultural immersion. I find the Hawaiian culture and history fascinating so this was the perfect opportunity for us to learn more about both. We had reserved this activity early enough to ensure good seats to the evening show--very good seats, in fact, seated in the third row, middle-section.

While this day was filled with fun, it was a long day (twelve hours from pick-up to drop-off) and everybody was wiped out by the time we got back to the hotel.
