Our Trip to Maui (2008)--Day 2
3/18/2008

Kicking Back

On our first full day in Maui, we were up early (5 a.m.). Our bodies hadn't yet adjusted to this new time zone which is five hours earlier than the zone we'd left yesterday. We decided to rest up today in preparation for our trip tomorrow to Lanai. I caught some sun in the late morning, and after napping for part of the afternoon, we drove south to Kihei for dinner at Aroma D'Italia.

We want to prop James and Molly Jacobson for their book Top Maui Restaurants 2008: From Thrifty To Four Star". While we had spent considerable time vacationing in Maui over the past twelve years, there were many areas and restaurants we hadn't sampled. This book was an invaluable resource to us. Thanks, guys!

Aroma d'Italia

A co-worker and his wife joined us for dinner at Aroma D'Italia; pretty cool that someone we knew from work was on Maui at the same time. It made for a nice visit while enjoying an excellent meal.

This restaurant was easy to find on S. Kihei Road after a very windy drive down from Lahaina. We were seated immediately upon the restaurant's opening at 5:00 and chose an outside table. Despite the windy conditions, this was a good choice. We chatted with Rick and his wife while dining (I had Chicken Parmigiana, Patty had a chicken Caesar salad); the food quality was top notch and the prices were quite reasonable. As with other places we'd found during this trip, we wish we had found them years ago!
